TRUTNEV: MEETING BETWEEN ABE AND PUTIN WILL FACILITATE A RETURN VISIT TO JAPAN
18 May 2016
The meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and Japan, which is to take place on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in September 2016, will facilitate arranging a visit by Vladimir Putin to Tokyo, RIA Novosti states, referring to Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.
Yury Trutnev stated that the planned meeting would strengthen cooperation between Japan and Russia: “It is obvious that it will create additional conditions for arranging a return visit.” He also reminded those present that there already exist certain agreements between the governments of the two countries, including on exchange of information.
Previously, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy had announced that Putin would visit Japan at the end of 2016.
