“RUSSIA ALLEY” HAS BEEN PLANTED TO COMMEMORATE THE OPENING OF THE EASTERN ECONOMIC FORUM

Russia Alley stands opposite Building A, the main building of the Far East Federal University (FEFU). This building was planted as part of the opening ceremonies for the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which is being held from 3 to 5 September, 2015 at the University. Russia Alley was planted with young plants that are representative of each constituent member of the Russian Federation, including all nine regions the Far Eastern Federal Area comprises.
The Alley symbolizes the integrity of the Russian territory, a unity of the historic, cultural, linguistic, and economic value of Russia. The official opening of Russia Alley was dedicated tothe President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, and his visit to FEFU. He flew in to open the Forum and make a statement as part of its plenary session.
Russia Alley, on Russky Island in Vladivostok, is just one stage of a greater, All-Russian ecological and patriotic action started by Russian Decree No 1798-р, dated 11.09.2014. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia and the Foundation Facilitating Environmental Protection Priroda/Nature were major organizers and coordinators of the event. Other project participants are the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Russian Geographical Society, and the Government of Moscow. The first Russia Alleys were planted in Moscow, Sevastopol, and Vladivostok as part of the project.
The project is carried out without the use of budgetary funds. All costs are covered by voluntary contributions.
