16 August 2016
Kamchatka Region Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin said the airport will be built in four years, the Club of Regions website reports.
The cost of the first phase of the new airport, which includes an international terminal as well as utility infrastructure facilities, is approximately RUB 3.1 billion. The project will be implemented as part of a public-private partnership programme.
A number of meetings with potential investors based on the presentations are planned in late September. Both Russian and foreign companies have expressed interest in the project.
“The company that will serve as our partner in implementing the project will be determined based on an investment tender. The necessary documentation is currently being prepared. The airport is slated to become one of the sites of the Kamchatka priority development area, and tax breaks and other preferences will be created for the investor”, Ilyukhin said.
The second phase of the project involves the construction of hotels in addition to road and utility infrastructure. Overall, the airport development project is expected to attract up to RUB 10 billion in public and private investment.
