INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION FOR COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF RUSSIAN FAR EAST AND NORTHEAST CHINA ESTABLISHED

The establishment of the commission was announced by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev during a meeting with the Chinese premier, as quoted in a press release from the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.
According to Medvedev, the decision to set up the commission is testament to the true scope of cooperation between Russia and China.
“A large body of paperwork has been prepared for the creation of the commission, reflecting the current state of affairs in Russian–Chinese partnership and ushering in a new phase of development in trade, economic, social, and humanitarian relations between our two countries,” the Russian Prime Minister said.
The parties stated that questions concerning practical cooperation had been discussed during the meeting, which took place in St. Petersburg.
“We are looking first and foremost at trade, the economy, mutual investment, cultural and humanitarian links, partnership in education, and so on. We see great promise in these areas and elsewhere, and believe there is huge potential for cooperation,” Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang said.
