StroyInvest-Energiya has signed an agreement with the Far East Development Corporation to operate in the Chukotka Autonomous District’s Beringovsky Advanced Special Economic Zone.
OOO StroyInvest-Energiya is planning to invest almost RUB 45 million in developing wind power. In particular, it will replace all obsolete wind power generators with more modern and efficient Vestas V27. The electricity generated as a result will power the town of Anadyr and the settlement of Ugolnye Kopi. Going forward, the project will help reduce electric power bills for Ugolnye Kopi residents.
StroyInvest-Energiya CEO Ivan Makeyev explained that establishment of the advanced special economic zone and support from the authorities had encouraged his company to launch the project: “According to our estimates, operating costs and, consequently, the risks are set to decrease. The Government of Chukotka and the Corporation have been providing ample support. Provision for transferring existing facilities to our use is being developed. Concurrently, we are looking for an equipment vendor and resolving logistics issues. The design work and construction launch are scheduled for the third quarter of 2016.”
For his part, head of the Far East Development Corporation Denis Tikhonov noted the innovative nature of the proposed project and said that “alternative energy is the future, and such projects are in line with the current trends in energy.”
