A panel session entitled “New Approaches to the Russian Economy: Localization and Innovation”, organized by the Roscongress Foundation, has taken place at the Boao Forum for Asia in China.

Representatives of the Russian Federation and People’s Republic of China discussed developing bilateral relations, with a special focus on growing the potential for cooperation between the Russian and Chinese innovative and business communities.

Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich of the Russian Federation said: “The Asia-Pacific countries largely complement one another; it serves our common interest to join efforts in achieving a qualitatively new level of growth of the knowledge-based economy. We are counting on development of the constructive dialogue launched here at Boao. The Eastern Economic Forum in September will provide ample opportunities for this.”

According to Anton Kobyakov, adviser to the President of the Russian Federation – Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum, it makes perfect sense to continue developing cooperation with Chinese partners at the EEF 2016: “We expect the Chinese delegation to be widely represented at our country’s main economic forums. They are very active and show a strong interest in such events. For our part, we are also focused on further consistent deepening of the mutually beneficial cooperation and building of Russian–Chinese relations in the new economic reality.”

The first Eastern Economic Forum took place on September 3–5, 2015 in Vladivostok. More than 2,500 ranking guests attended the Forum, making it a central venue for collaboration between government officials and investors from Russia and the Asia-Pacific. The second Eastern Economic Forum will take place on September 2–3, 2016 in Vladivostok.

The Boao Forum for Asia is an international forum for government, business and academia leaders in Asia and other continents to share their views on economic issues in this dynamic region and the world in general.
